Gered Mankowitz photographed Françoise Hardy, when he was shooting portrait of stars on the film “Grand Prix” in Monte Carlo. Hardy was an actress, model, singer, and songwriter. Important figure in French pop, she is know for singing melancholic sentimental ballads. Leading figure of the yé-yé wave (genre of pop music) in the 60s, a French adaption of the rock and roll that came from USA and UK. France’s most noticeable female singer of the era, as she was writing her own song, and singing in English, Italian and German, in addition to French.
