The Black Panthers, also known as the Black Panther Party (BPP), was a political organization founded in October 1966 in Oakland, California by college students Huey P. Newton and Bobby Seale to challenge police brutality against the African American community. Active in the United States between 1966 and 1982, they’ve created social programs, educational programs, and community health clinics.
