Vogue, Traffic at St. Paul’s Cathedral

by Brian Duffy – Ludgate Hill, London 1959

Photo for British Vogue. Duffy captured the model Sandra Paul (now known as Sandra Howard, Baroness Howard of Lympne) stepping off the pavement in front of the West Front of the St. Paul’s Cathedral. Just 20 years before this photograph, the same Cathedral was surrounded by flames on the 114th night of the Blitz. Behind the model you can see the infamous routemaster double decker London bus, and black cab on the left, an Austin FX3.
